Fenland Poetry and Verse - and More

You know the people around you want to help but it's hard to explain something you don't really understand yourself.

Stay By Me

by Neil Ford

I was feeling OK though the pressure was there
It builds in my mind – makes me feel in despair
I know my life’s good, I have so much around
But these feelings return and I spiral back down

So don’t make it simple and explain it away
Just be there for now and at the end of the day
It’ll pass in time, these things always do
But I could never live through it if I hadn’t got you

Those around me, support me but it doesn’t help much
I’m low and don’t feel right but I don’t need a crutch
It sounds wrong I know, I love you all dearly
If I understood myself, I could explain it more clearly

Stick with me, stay by me, I’m grateful you are here
I know I’m not right and need time to get clear
It’s an age. It’s a phase. The pressure of life
Without you beside me it would be pure strife

So don’t make it simple and explain it away
Just be there for me now and at the end of the day
It’ll pass in time, these things always do
But I could never live through it if I hadn’t got you
